Reflecting on 2023: A Year of Personal Growth and Success in the Canadian Cannabis Industry.

Looking back, 2023 was a remarkable year of personal growth and career advancement for me. I had the opportunity to make significant strides in the legal cannabis industry in Canada, and overall, it was a great year. I went to Toronto TWICE and represented myself and my magazine High Moon at two high profile conferences in the cannabis industry.

I also won “Most influential on Social media” at the first ever CannExpo 2023. Out of a solid group of nominees and over 10,000 votes cast, this New Brunswick woman brought home the win! I was up against some very influential and well known humans in the industry so I was humbled to win such an honour.

Being recognized as the most influential person on social media in an industry as competitive as cannabis is no small feat. It not only highlights the hard work and dedication that goes into building a strong online presence, but also the impact that one's voice can have on shaping the industry. As a woman from New Brunswick, winning this award has given me a platform to showcase the potential of the cannabis industry on the East coast of Canada and beyond. What a ride! I feel beyond lucky and honored to keep sharing the good vibes and knowledge about the wonders of cannabis. It's a total privilege that I hold dearly and never take for granted.

I got to say, I had a blast at Lift back in Toronto, June of 2023! It was me and my two ride-or-die buds, taking on the city and kicking back for a whole weekend of celebrating legal cannabis and our triumphs in the industry.

Reflecting on a Painful Layoff Experience:

The year 2023 brought an unexpected first - I was laid off from my job, which left me feeling devastated. It is tough to accept when circumstances beyond your control result in losing your job, and that's exactly what happened to me. The way the layoff was handled was ridiculous – I was in the middle of preparing for one of our weekly meetings when I received the news via email. Despite dedicating almost two years to the company, my work ultimately took a backseat to their brand-building goals. It was a fight to receive fair compensation and a record of employment. This experience taught me that work shouldn't consume your entire life, and that some companies in this industry will prioritize their interests over their employees' well-being.

Thanks to the steadfast support of my dear friend and official co-editor, Tilly, we were able to keep the magazine running. And the results have been nothing short of amazing! This year, we've garnered international attention, participated in two major conferences, and collaborated with exceptional individuals and brands.
